With normal everyday use, the granite will not scratch. However, if it does happen to scratch, depending on how deep it is, the scratch can usually be buffed out.
Unlike any other solid surface, granite can take the heat from hot pots and pans directly from the stove or oven.
Durability of granite for inside application is virtually identical for all granites. The price differences come with the net usage from each granite quarried
The sealant we use generally only requires one application which we do at the time of installation.
Granite is a very easy surface to care for. When we install your granite countertops, we apply a silicone impregnator to seal your tops.

The impregnator soaks into the stone and will protect it for 10-15 years as long as no harsh chemicals or abrasives are used on it.

All Agranites can be cleaned with mild soap and water. Most can be cleaned with a Windex type product (with vinegar), however this is not recommended for the lighter stones. We also carry a stone cleaner that can be used on granite or marble.

If you find a greasy film on your countertops that cannot be removed with the Windex or stone cleaner, you can use a little bit of denatured alcohol in the area to cut through the film. Just spray some on and wipe with a soft cloth or paper towel. Do not do this more than once every few months.

Marble isn’t recommended for kitchen countertops because it can scratch easily and certain acidic substances can affect it. Granite is the second hardest stone and doesn’t scratch. It is great for kitchen countertops because it can withstand the hot heat from pots and pans during cooking.

Each slab of granite is unique, so coloring and veining will vary. Sample stones may not show what the entire slab will look like, so it is important to have the opportunity to view the full slab that you will be using for your project. However, those characteristics are what will make your granite countertop different from the rest.
